Why Godstone Farm is a Brilliant Family Day out Whatever the Weather (#hosted trip but go all the time anyway)

Godstone Farm - what an absolutely amazing day out! We have been coming here since both children were babies: we’ve always loved the family feel (it was set up forty years ago by a wonderful family), the sheer space of the place (other places can feel a bit claustrophobic), the variety of things to do and the friendliness of the staff. It was an absolute delight therefore to host a #gifted birthday party for my daughter’s fifth birthday there in July. In this blog I’m going to give you as much info as possible about all the things to do there, and why this amazing venue is great for the whole family.
As it was my daughter’s birthday we had a barn reserved just for us (there are a number of these to use as your base if you book an event there). We had a separate space for eating and another for presents and cake. This was a great place for us to start and meet our friends: I loved how they gave my daughter five balloons for her birthday, the cheery bunting and the murals.
The children started at the brilliant Play Barn. Some soft plays can be very suffocating, but this one has huge panels on the side that open up to the outdoors. After this we had our tractor ride: this takes the children past the pigs, geese and other farmyard animals, before going through the DINOSAUR trail (my two LOVE this), the pond and back to near the soft play Barn. Excitement continued as we learned about the geese and ducks, their incredible water-resistant feathers and then fed them with special bird food.
Then we had a real highlight: cuddling up to some beautiful animals! We started with some hoppy chicks (so soft!) and then some beautiful bunnies. I know I wasn’t the only parent thinking about taking one home (they do sell a few pets). Here are a few pictures of the children just loving it!
Then it was time for watching the pig racing (one of the pigs was comedically lazy, so that was hilarious for the adults), visiting the main animal barn, watching some epic bubbles being created, playing in the Music Zone, Mud Kitchens and Den Making, before lunchtime. We opted for the cold Picnic Boxes, which have a choice of cheese, jam and ham sandwiches, crisps, fruit snack, cake and juice (and they provided water). We could have chosen a hot lunch (things like chicken nuggets and chips), but we find that our two and their friends are normally too excitable to eat properly!
After we’d sung Happy Birthday to the Most Important Person that Day the rest of the day was dedicated to fresh air and running around! With three sandpits, massive spaces with huge playgrounds including zip wires, water sledges, enormous climbing frames, mazes, multi-person swings, you’ll have to tear the kids away. We also enjoyed some junk modelling - such a great idea and something we carried on doing at home.
Godstone Farm and Play Barn is somewhere we will come to time and time again - we love it so much, and are looking forward to more of the events later on this year, including Low Bang Fireworks, Camping (yes really, even me), Wiglet's Christmas Adventure & Father Christmas Visit and much more I’m sure. Godstone Farm is somewhere where - as soon as you’ve been in once - you’ll wonder why you had never been sooner!

To find your way to Godstone Farm:
BY TRAIN
The nearest station to the farm is Caterham, Surrey which can be reached from London Victoria, London Bridge, Clapham Junction, Norwood Junction and East Croydon.
BY BUS
There are several buses that stop in Godstone Village which is just a short walk from the farm.
400 — East Grinstead, Crawley, Gatwick, Redhill and Caterham
Serves Redhill and Caterham train stations.
This service operates 7 days per week
409 — East Grinstead, Lingfield, Godstone, Caterham & Warlingham
Serves Godstone and Caterham train stations.
This service does not operate on Sundays
410 — Redhill, Godstone, Oxted & Hurst Green
Serves Oxted and Redhill train stations
This service operates 7 days per week

BY CAR
We can be found just off junction 6 on the M25. Follow the signposts to Godstone and from there you can pick up brown tourist board signs to Godstone Farm.
You can also get to us using the A25 and A22.
FOOT NOTE: Please wear sensible footwear for your visit. Boots are not needed on the farm except in wet weather but high heels and platforms are NOT recommended.
